Jacques Pepin will be dining on provencal fish stew and pork and veal pate tonight, courtesy of a special meal from chef Daniel Boulud.
Both chefs are in town tonight for the Smithsonian's Food History gala dinner. Pepin is scheduled to receive the first Julia Child Award at the event, which will take place at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
Expected to attend tonight: Alton Brown, Marcus Samuelsson, Sara Moulton, Derek Brown and others.
The menu has several inspirations behind it; several dishes are nods from specific episodes of Child's television show, while the dessert, poached pear with chocolate sauce, comes from the cookbook Pepin and Child did together. The full menu is below:
