Dacha Navy Yard Dinner Featuring Filibuster
What: For the latest installment of its “chef’s table” dinner series in Navy Yard, Dacha executive chef Scott Robison curates a six-course meal to complement whiskies and gin from the local Filibuster distillery.
Details: Tickets are $95, which includes five courses, dessert, and paired beverages throughout the meal. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. 79 Potomac Ave SE
Thursday, March 5
What: Take The St. James’s new music and choreography-driven cycling class for a spin, then stick around for a post-workout happy hour at chef Spike Mendelshon’s Vim & Victor.
Details: Each $10 ticket includes a free drink and happy hour pricing at the bar all night. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 6805 Industrial Road, Springfield, Virginia
Friday, March 6
Late-Night Poultry Party at Cafe Mia
What: Dupont Circle’s new Latin-leaning daytime cafe jumpstarts its late-night weekend service, designed to fill up patrons with Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, beef barbacoa, or veggie rice bowls until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Details: The limited menu also features a.m. offerings like its beef barbacoa breakfast bowl and loaded “Hangover” bowl (bacon, breakfast sausage, beef barbacoa, home fries, cheese, and an egg scramble). Alcohol will join the late-night action once “we have this running on automatic,” owner Jeff Diaz says. 1829 M Street NW
Saturday, March 7
8th Annual DC Whiskey Walk
What: The capital’s official kickoff to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations entails a whiskey crawl at eight D.C. bars and restaurants, with a different 1-ounce pour of premium Irish whiskey at each stop. A bagpiper and drummer will greet the crowd during check-in (noon to 3 p.m.) at the Board Room, where Proper Twelve is the welcome drink. The actual holiday is Tuesday, March 17.
Details: The all-day tasting tour also features Northside Tavern (Sexton Single Malt), Black Whiskey (Jameson Cold Brew), MadHatter (Bushmills), Stoney’s (Powers Gold Label), Black Jack (Bushmills Red Bush), Sauf Haus (Bushmills Black Bush), and Kingfisher (Paddy). There’s also food specials and $5 Guinness beers along the way. Tickets start at $29, and the event wraps up at 9 p.m. The annual homegrown event has since expanded to NYC and Philly.
Streetcar 82 Brewery Keg Tap Party
What: D.C. area makers Southeastern Roastery, Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. and Maek Coffee collaborated on a coffee-flavored amber ale on tap at Streetcar 82 Brewery. The brewers will gather for a keg tapping party at noon (4824 Rhode Island Avenue, Hyattsville).
Details: The March launch is purposely timed in line with Women’s History and National Deaf History Month; Southeastern is a black-owned, woman-owned company. Streetcar 82 and Maek Coffee are deaf-owned businesses.
Tuesday, March 10
Monthly Sake Class at O-Ku
What: Head to Union Market district’s sleek sushi spot to sip an upscale assortment of sake ranging from chilled to hot to demonstrate how temperature can change the Japanese spirit’s taste.
Details: Three sake pours are paired with O-Ku’s braised short rib, mushroom robata grilled skewers, and a four-piece makimono sushi roll. Each $80 ticket also includes a welcome cocktail. 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 1274 5th Street NE
Saturday, March 14
6th Annual HopFest at DC Brau [POSTPONED]*
What: The annual beer festival in support of DC Brewers’ Guild is back with more than 35 of the DMV’s top breweries, cider houses, and meaderies pouring some of the hoppiest offerings in the region. Participants include 3 Stars, 7 Locks, Adroit Theory, ANXO, Denizens, District Chophouse, Old Ox, Port City, Red Bear, Right Proper, and Valor Brewpub. Featured beers include hard-to-find brews, one-offs crafted for the event, and fan favorites.
Details: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at DC Brau Brewing (3178 Bladensburg Road NE). GA tickets for the 21-and-up event are $50 (and includes a special DCBG tasting glass and unlimited pours of dozens of hoppy beers). VIP passes are $75 each, which includes early access starting at noon, a commemorative growler, and portable cooler.
*“After much consideration and in light of [the March 11] DC Health advisory, HopFest 2020 will be postponed until a later date,” according to the organizers.
Sunday, March 15
Women in Wine: Uncorked at Barcelona Wine Bar
What: Barcelona Wine Bar will crack open its bountiful cellar and pour 30 different wines from female makers across Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Uruguay.
Details: Tickets are $55 a pop and include light bites. There’s two date and locale options: Barcelona on 14th Street on Sunday, March 15 (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and its Cathedral outpost on Monday, March 16 (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.). Multiple locations
