Remember the Alamo
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a popular chain of movie theaters with next-level food and drink (brought to your seat, natch), is coming to D.C. proper, reports Austin Business Journal. The current area location is in Ashburn, Virginia. The theater will anchor a large development in the Edgewood neighborhood. The D.C. proper location will have a standalone bar called Glass Half Full. [ABJ]
Attn: Last-Minute Gifters
Eater National has some ideas for those shoppers scrambling for a last-minute holiday gift for a good-lover in their lives. Worst case scenario: you now know that Sriracha candy canes exist (perfect for that wildcard co-worker), and so does Taco Bell jewelry. [E]
Festivus/Rest of Us
And now attention: Seinfeld superfans. Columbia Heights bar The Airedale is hosting a “Festivus for the Rest of Us” party this Friday (Dec. 23rd), reports Borderstan. It’s inspired by the classic made-up holiday from the ‘90s show about nothing. The Airedale told Borderstan that the classic events — “the airing of grievances” and “Festivus pole” included — will for sure take place, along with a themed menu and cocktails. [Borderstan]
Nostalgia Trip
Washington Business Journal looks back at some of the landmark restaurants that made the Northern Virginia food scene what it was. Should old acquaintance (never!) be forgot, amiright? [WBJ]
