Jinya Ramen Bar has opened in Mosaic District today, with several small plates and even more ramen varieties at the ready.
The full-service restaurant offers five different broths (including vegan and chicken ramen), but specializes in tonkotsu-style broth simmered for more than 18 hours. They offer more than 20 different toppings for the soup, from eggs to wonton noodles, and several customized soup variations, such as garlic ramen or spicy miso. Besides the soups, diners can also choose from rice bowls, quinoa salads, curry rice, buns, fried chicken, and more. Drinks include craft beers, sake, wine, and Japanese-inspired cocktails.
The 2,500 square-foot space was designed by Los Angeles-based firm Ikedo Design, There's a dining room with seating for 100, and there's also a bar with nine seats and a 34-seat outdoor patio.
The California-based chain already has 12 locations in the Los Angeles area, Las Vegas, Houston, Seattle, Atlanta, and Canada. The New York City outpost closed last year, so the Mosaic location will be Jinya's flagship store on the East Coast. Another location on 14th Street is also in the works for D.C. The restaurant (which was hopping with a 30 minutes wait during lunch opening day), will revert to limited dinner-only hours for the rest of the week. Lunch will be available starting June 27.
