Iconic Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio has 44 restaurants worldwide, three in the U.S. and eventually...one in Washington?
That's what a profile in The Washington Post says. There are no real details, but writer Nick Miroff offers this tease:
Acurio, 46, has made Peruvian cuisine into the country's proudest export. He runs a swelling global operation of 44 restaurants, including three in the United States, with plans to open a new place next year in Washington, D.C., location still undetermined.
Time will tell what Acurio has in store for Washington. But the city has seen a recent influx of South American-inspired restaurants, from Del Campo and Toro Toro to Rural Society; there's also the upcoming Peruvian-Chinese China Chilcano from José Andrés.
