CHEF SHUFFLES—We learned a couple of weeks ago that Cork chef Ron Tanaka was departing for greener pastures, and today Tom Sietsema follows up via Twitter on what those greener pastures are exactly: Tanaka will take over the kitchen at New Heights starting October 26. [Twitter]
LISTICLES—This month's issue of Garden & Gun goes on "a culinary tour of the tastier dishes in Dixie" and picks 50 of their favorite dishes. Exactly one DC restaurant made the list: Estadio with its tortilla española. [G&G]
LISTICLES—Esquire's Best New Restaurants of 2011 that was unveiled yesterday also includes a shortlist of restaurants that, while not the best, are "not to miss." Among the local restaurants named are Virtue Feed & Grain and Michel — and they're in good company with Chicago's Girl & the Goat and Husk in Charleston. [Esquire]
ATLAS DISTRICT—Granville Moore's is converting its back porch area into a party space it will call "The Waiting Room" in an effort to host more private events within the restaurant. So you can ask them to create private beer dinners, parties and the like — and they're also doing more off-site catering if you want the mussels to come to you. [EaterWire]
CLEVELAND PARK—Dino is hosting its own take on the nose-to-tail trend tomorrow night with another duck dinner in which chef Dean Gold uses "everything but the quack." The dinner starts at 7 p.m. and is $55 per person. [EaterWire]
WEST END—Also tomorrow evening, Ris hosts a happy hour to support Think Local First. Between 5:30 and 7:30, they'll have food and drink specials and the restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds to the nonprofit. [EaterWire]
