PENN QUARTER—The annual Day of the Dead festival begins tonight at Oyamel, which has concocted a special new menu and two cocktails just for the celebration. Menu items include fried potato fritters, chilled avocado soup, sweet rice tamales and Day of the Dead bread butternut squash soup and a pork belly-filled taco. The celebration goes on until November 2. [EaterWire]

DUPONT CIRCLEAgora unveils some new private dining space today that the Turkish restaurant has dubbed the Solen Room. The second-floor room will have enough space for 50 seated guests and more standing, plus some bar seats. [EaterWire]

OCCUPY DC—The City Paper has a video of a guy participating in the Occupy DC movement talking about the food the demonstrators have been eating to keep them going. He takes the filmmaker on a tour of the food tent and shares, to no one's surprise, "We keep it pretty much vegetarian—vegan, if we can." [WCP]
