The cover story of the City Paper's beer issue is a really interesting read on why craft beer is so damn expensive here in DC — even when compared with other pricey cities like San Francisco. Some fault may lie with breweries and distributors, but writer Tammy Tuck notes that your fancy bars (the description of which she totally nails) are to blame for the worst markups: "Notice the tin ceiling overhead, the exposed piping, the dusty brick? The operators of this hip watering hole paid a pretty penny to make it look so stripped-down and shabby chic. How do they recoup those costs? You're drinking it." [WCP]
