The cynics at the City Paper's City Desk take issue with this weekend's presidential anniversary outing to Restaurant Eve. Is it because the Obamas really should have splurged on Minibar? Or gone with a more recession-friendly spot? Nope. The presidential misstep is daring to visit a restaurant that — brace yourselves — is in Virginia. Despite the fact that the Obamas eat out in DC proper all the time, the paper begs to know, "Where's the love for D.C. businesses?" and ponders whether this is an election strategy to win the fancy Virginia vote by eating at a fancy Virginia restaurant. Possible. Or, you know, maybe Restaurant Eve is just a really great restaurant? [WCP]
