OK, Maybe Don't Drink Cheap Wine

Washington Post wine writer Dave McIntyre takes issue with a piece that recently came out in Slate — which he writes "used to be known for intelligent wine writing" — that urges Americans to swap the fancy stuff for cheap wine. Viewing the piece as an attack on wine critics and columnists like himself, McIntyre makes the counter-argument: "To argue that these are the wines that Americans drink, and therefore the wines that writers should cover, is akin to sending Tom Sietsema around to compare the food at various IHOPs."
