Some good news for those who live in Shaw and Bloomingdale: Beer nerd Thor Cheston has left Robert Wiedmaier's empire and is scouting out the area to open a gastropub of his own. There's no lease yet, but the City Paper reports that the idea is for a tavern with American comfort food and high expectations for brewmaster Nathan Zeender. As Cheston says, "My brewmaster and I are going to have to see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. They are going to have to work and will really have to put their heart and soul into it." He also calls the neighborhood "the Brooklyn of DC." [WCP]
