The Standard Sets a Date For Its Winter Hibernation

Beer garden party people, this is the news you've been dreading: The Standard has officially announced that it will close for the winter on December 5. Of course, it can come as no surprise that 14th Street's teeny tiny beer garden with an enormous following would need to close shop as the cold comes given that there is hardly any indoor seating and space heaters can only do so much. Still, this is your cue to be sad. And even sadder is that it's not even open until Friday this week due to Thanksgiving.

But here's the bright side: The folks at The Standard say they'll reopen the gates on March 1. And in the meantime, clear your calendar for the 10 days leading up to December 4 — what they're calling "10 days of FUN" — and a goodbye-for-now to their barbecue and beer.
