Chris Shott files a review of Jeff Black's Pearl Dive Oyster Palace today, where he notes that his "first bowls of gumbo and crawfish étouffée ... would have been entirely forgettable, except for their unforgettable lack of heat." Fortunately, the restaurant has subsequently added the heat and now meets Shott's approval — particularly when it comes to the vast selection of oysters, "zesty" braised pork cheeks, fried egg-topped catfish po'boy and the fried chicken that Black himself says is "freakin' delicious."
