Fiola bar manager Jeff Faile tells The Washingtonian's Best Bites blog today about one epic night in his bartending past. Long before he was Eater's Bartender of the Year, Faile was working Saturday night shifts on U Street, the kind where the computers go down, an employee slices her hand cutting limes and another shatters a bottle into the ice bin. Quote Faile: "No ice, no limes, and dial-up. And it just stayed like that: One person, and a sea of humanity demanding vodka sodas. It was horrible." [The Washingtonian]
