Status: Opening around 1 p.m.
Meatballs, the meatball-centric restaurant from Michel Richard, is opening its doors to the public today in Penn Quarter. This will be the French chef's first stab at fast-casual with various types of meatballs on the menu — traditional, lamb, lentil, etc — that can be served in a grinder or over a salad or pasta. There's also going to be ice cream and the space itself is a wild celebration of balls. Meatballs will be open for lunch and dinner and launches this afternoon "probably around 1 p.m.," according to a manager.
UPDATE: Well, another manager reports back to Eater that the health inspector never showed up this morning, so Meatballs' opening is on hold. It will not happen today. Apologies for any inconvenience.
