Hoo boy. This is quite the week in Mike Isabella restaurant news and rumors. First came Monday's bombshell that the Graffiato chef is opening a Mexican restaurant named Bandolero in the old Hook space in Georgetown. And now Prince of Petworth is reporting some "strictly scuttlebutt though very sweet scuttlebutt" that Isabella is opening either a Greek restaurant or a pizza restaurant at 14th and W streets. What? Eater reached out to Isabella, who gave the following statement:
"I've been looking at spaces all over the city for my next restaurant, including this location. But I haven't signed a lease yet. I'd love to do a Greek restaurant at some point, but I won't commit to a concept until I find a space and sign the lease. For now, I hope everyone is excited about Bandolero and some great Mexican food coming to Georgetown."
A rep clarifies that, yes, he is definitely looking at spaces for a third concept beyond what has just been announced for Bandolero — and he is only looking at spaces in DC. So while it might not necessarily be a Greek restaurant at this particular intersection (though it might?) one thing for sure is that Isabella will be an incredibly busy guy over the next few years.
