You know what would make for a really killer New Years Eve? Dropping $10,000 on a private party at J&G Steakhouse that includes private butler and waiter service, a dedicated bartender, a red carpet, access to the exclusive POV Lounge's New Years party and something called a "champagne valet." All you've got to do is find 19 friends who are all good for $500 apiece and you are so in with today's Gilt City deal to the Jean-Georges Vongerichten-owned restaurant.
The famous chef will not be on hand cooking your five-course dinner — which would make this deal a whole lot more worth it — but the menu includes egg caviar, sauteed Maine lobster and caramelized beef tenderloin with black truffle cheese fritters. Also included in the deal are 10 of Vongerichten's cookbooks. Of course, these are unsigned because 10 signatures are clearly worth more than $10,000.
For the poors among us, here's a suggestion: The restaurant is serving an identical menu will be served in the regular dining room for $125 per person. (Though it doesn't come with unsigned cookbooks or fancy red carpets.) You can also still purchase tickets to the New Years Eve party at the POV Lounge for a hefty $200 apiece. And you can buy an unsigned cookbook online for $40 (or less thanks to the powers of the Internet). Altogether, that's $6,900 — still a few thousand bucks saved.
