The DC area is home to a lot of restaurants, and among them are hidden gems that many Washingtonians aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's many food players to share with us their under the radar recommendations for Eater's latest feature, Dining Confidential.
Todd Wiss, owner Mt. Pleasant's Radius, famed for its "$5 Slice and Pint" specials, likes to dine at the equally laid-back Fishnet, a new restaurant in College Park.
"Fishnet is fairly new and features some of the freshest fish I've seen in the area at an unbelievably reasonable price. The fish stew is amazing, the bread for the fish sandwiches is a perfectly grilled ciabatta roll, and the menu changes daily (like mine) with what's freshest.
The owner really puts some amazing sauces together, often inspired by his Turkish background. I've never had a dish here that wasn't fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed and charming. When I eat out, I don't want to have to dress up, I just want great food and a friendly, cozy vibe, and that's exactly what this place has."
