RUMORMONGERING—The City Paper's Lydia DePillis is quite the betting woman today, first this morning with a guess that Eataly will find a home at CityCenterDC and this afternoon with another big retail wager: that Trader Joe's is heading to the 14th and U Street intersection. This would, of course, be major if true because people love them some Trader Joe's. [WCP]
AWARD SEASON—The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington has announced a date for next year's Rammy Awards Gala: June 24, 2012. They've also added a brand new category to the thing — Casual Restaurant of the Year. This is in addition to existing categories that include Best New Restaurant, Fine Dining Restaurant and Casual Upscale Restaurant. Covering all the bases there. [EaterWire]
DUPONT CIRCLE—Here's a great thing: Beginning tomorrow night, Firefly chef Danny Bortnick is putting latkes on the menu for Hanukkah. According to a press release, these latkes will be made with Yukon Gold potatoes, "with beef tongue pastrami, crispy soft egg and horseradish cream." They're available for $12 starting December 15.
