Some bad news this morning, in particular for people who love their chocolate and hot chocolate. Artfully Chocolate — the chocolate shop and cafe formerly known as ACKC — announced overnight that it will be closing its 14th Street location. As luck would have it, this is just in time for hot chocolate season. As owner Eric Nelson wrote in a message to patrons, "Many factors contributed to the situation that caused us to take this action, but the loyalty of our customers was never in doubt."
Artfully Chocolate's two Alexandria locations in Del Ray and Old Town will remain open and apparently will eventually expand their offerings "to fill various voids left by closing the DC location." The last day for Logan Circle is December 31, though Nelson notes in his message that there's going to be a post-closing sale on January 1.
