Screw vegetables. Why sign up for a box of farm-fresh vegetables every week when you can have pies instead? Yes, pies. Following a small pilot program this summer, the ladies behind Whisked! are formally launching a CSA for pies — or what they're calling a "community supported pie" program.
Though these bakers routinely offer a selection of pies from their perch at the 14 & U farmers' market and through their website, the incentive behind a pie CSA is all in the variety — they're going to offer CSA members things like bourbon butternut squash, kickin' buffalo chicken or chocolate chipotle cream pies. For $154, subscribers will get two six-inch pies every two weeks. It all gets underway on January 6, and they are already accepting members, so all pie fiends might want to get on that.
