Sunday evening marks the launch of yet another DC pop-up, this time courtesy of the Number 68 Project. This experiential nine-week dinner series first launched last year in London, and features a weekly rotation of chefs, mixologists and cultural collaborators. Each night will have its own theme around which chefs and artists will frame the dining experience.
Todd Gray is among the chefs participating in this particular pop-up, which is pretty much a given since his wife Ellen Kassoff Gray serves as one of the project's advisers. Some of Washington's top mixologists, too, join cultural connoisseurs like performance artist Genevieve Erin O'Brien, food writer Amanda Hesser and DC Central Kitchen's Robert Egger help bring the whole thing together.
Events announced so far include:
Feb. 20: "We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails" feat. Mike Isabella (Graffiato) and Derek Brown (The Passenger, Columbia Room).
Feb. 27: "Fear is the darkroom where negatives are developed" feat. Wes Morton (Againn) and Jared Boller (Lani Kai).
March 6: "Moderate your appetite so that with little you will be content" feat. Nicholas Stefanelli (Bibianna) and Gina Chesvarni (PS7).
March 13: "An unexpected relationship will become permanent" feat. Justin Bittner (Bar Pilar) and Justin Noel (1534).
March 20: "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten" feat. Todd Gray (Equinox) and Jared Boller.
