While yesterday we learned that the half-smoke has officially been recorded in Washington's history books, today 10 chefs are embarking on a quest to take the sausage into a new era. Rosslyn's Domaso has announced that it will hold a Half-Smoke Challenge on May 1 in which a handful of local chefs will put their own spin on the local delicacy.
Competing chefs are:
Victor Albisu (BLT Steak)
Nathan Anda (Red Apron Butchery)
Danny Bortnick (Firefly)
John Critchley (Urbana)
Scott Drewno (The Source by Wolfgang Puck)
Paul Healey (Domaso)
Liam LaCivita (Liberty Tavern/Lyon Hall)
Dennis Marron (Jackson 20/The Grille at Morrison House)
Peter Smith (PS 7's)
Chris Watson (BRABO)
Ed Witt (701 Restaurant)
Tickets will run you $20 and include a specialty cocktail as well as a taste of each of the 10 half-smokes. All proceeds will go to benefit Brainfood, a non-profit that works with local children to build life skills using food and cooking.
