Jake's Grille Opens Friday; Cupcake War Is On In Georgetown

1) Chevy Chase: Friday marks the grand opening for Jake's American Grille, the latest venture from Gaynor Jablonski, whose District Restaurant Group is also behind the Ugly Mug and Maddy's Bar & Grille. The restaurant — whose name honors Jablonski's retired Naval officer grandfather — will serve American classics from burgers to a roasted half-chicken, accompanied by a strong list of draft beers like Troegs Hopback Amber Ale. In March, the restaurant plans to open a game room in its basement called the Boiler Room. [PoP]

2) Georgetown: Cupcakes have a date with destiny next week — March 3 — when Sprinkles officially opens its doors near rival Georgetown Cupcakes. And to satiate your cupcake needs in the meantime, Metrocurean reports that Sprinkles is loading up a truck and delivering free cupcakes every single day next week, starting Monday in Franklin Square. All this after the Georgetown Cupcakes sisters celebrate the second-season premiere of "DC Cupcakes" on Friday, by the way. Man your battle stations! [EaterWire]
