Mussel Bar has finally got itself a new chef de cuisine in Matt Hagan. The former sous chef from Marcel's is taking over the kitchen at Robert Wiedmaier's Bethesda restaurant, keeping it in the family. Perhaps this will provide some stability for Mussel Bar, which saw Robert Gadsby's departure less than a year after opening, followed by a temporary stint with John Engle (now back at Brasserie Beck). Awkwardly, co-owner Polly Wiedmaier didn't exactly give Hagan a ringing endorsement, telling Bethesda Magazine that he was selected "because there was no one else to pick now." [Bethesda Magazine]
