If you were as curious as franchise owner Charley Beresford was as to why Nationals Park didn't offer his popular Five Guys concession stand a new contract, the mystery has been solved: Tom Sietsema reports today that New York restaurateur Danny Meyer is bringing Shake Shack to the ballpark instead. And that's not all — Meyer will open three other concessions, too, including Blue Smoke's barbecue, fries from Box Frites and El Verano Taqueria's tacos. A ballpark rep explains that they made the switch to "re-inspire the fan experience.”
The new concessions won't be ready in time for the season opener, but probably by June — at which point the new Shake Shake location in Dupont Circle should be open, too. A location which happens to be down the street from a Five Guys.
