1) Capitol Hill: Pound the Hill launched its soft opening this morning on Capitol Hill, where it will be serving coffee from 6:30 to 11 a.m. for the rest of the week. The new outpost of NoMa's Pound Coffee will open in earnest on March 14 with full food service (and some freebie Nutella lattes). [POST-PLYWOOD]
2) Centreville: Popular Korean import BonChon Chicken will open its third DC-area location later this month, according to the Washington Business Journal. BonChon will open up in Centreville, which perhaps will ease the demand on its Annandale and Fairfax locations. But the big question is — will they ever bring delicious fried chicken to the hungry masses in DC proper? [PLYWOOD]
3) Mt. Vernon Square: The WBJ has some news, too, on the forthcoming Sixth Engine, an American tavern set to take over the historic Old Engine Co. No. 6 firehouse in Mt. Vernon Triangle. The owners — also of the Dubliner and Town Hall — are taking steps to restore the firehouse to its late-1800s appearance. But be patient. The earliest date given for the opening is "by year's end."
