Danish chef Lars Beese won top honors last night at the third-annual Embassy Chef Challenge. The competition, a benefit for Cultural Tourism DC, pitted the chefs helming the kitchens of embassy residences across town against once another in making dishes representative of both their countries and their own culinary styles. Judges bestowed the win upon Beese for his asparagus soup and roasted duck breast with plum chutney. Meanwhile, Peruvian chef Jose Luis Fernandez came away with the People's Choice title for his ceviche.
