Ginny's To Take Over Generous George's; DC Brau Launch

ALEXANDRIA—So long for real, Generous George's. Though the old Duke Street institution shuttered in late 2009, the building's sale went through today. The lucky buyer? The My Husband Cooks Hospitality Group, which plans to open up a "seasonal American" restaurant named Ginny's AND a gourmet hot dog shop named The Esquire Dog in the space. They plan to open in summer 2012. [EaterWire]

EVENT PLANNING—Pretty much everybody is going to be at Meridian Pint tomorrow evening for the DC Brau launch party. So make plans to take off work early and celebrate the release of DC's first production beer in more than 50 years. [EaterWire]

ATLAS DISTRICTSmith Commons debuts a Saturday brunch service this weekend from 11 to 3, featuring dishes like a Cointreau Noir orange liqueur French toast and hanger steak and eggs. The bar will be offering biscuits, muffins and bottomless mimosas. [EaterWire]

U STREET—Also on Sunday, Masa 14 is kicking off a very porky weekly special. The U Street restaurant will be roasting pigs over charcoal for their Lechon Asado Sundays, priced at $25 per person. [EaterWire]
