On Friday, the Westend Bistro launches its summer pop-up BBQ stand, serving Carolina-style pulled pork, NC-style pulled chicken and Texas-style brisket from its patio on 22nd Street. Chef de cuisine Joe Palma had his food truck competition in mind when creating this pop-up, operating under the theory that he could make better food and sell it for less.
Sandwiches and brisket are $6, while sides, drinks and dessert are all less than $3 — and include chips, cheddar biscuits, lemon bars, sweet tea and more. Picnic baskets are also available for $14, carrying your choice of meat plus a biscuit, slaw, dessert and a drink. Find this Eric Ripert-endorsed pop-up from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays through September 30. And if eating outside isn't your thing, 'cue will also be available in the restaurant's dining room.
