There won't be any more fried chicken, but the old General Store space in Silver Spring officially has a new inhabitant. Restaurateur Spiro Gioldasis has announced that he'll be opening a second Italian eatery, Pacci's Trattoria & Pasticceria, in the building with hopes to open by the end of June. Chef Rosario Granieri, from sister restaurant Pacci's Neapolitan Pizzeria, will helm the kitchen and, according to a press release, the menu will feature "recipes passed down to Granieri from his mother and grandmother in Naples." In addition to a counter-service breakfast (complete with espresso bar), the new Pacci's will offer full lunch and dinner services with pasta, sandwiches, pizza, pastries and a selection of about 30-40 wines.
The sudden late March shutter of the General Store was marked by a feud between Gioldasis and chef Gillian Clark in which the chef accused her landlord of bullying and failure to pay back taxes, while he in turn accused her of failure to pay back rent. Clark has now turned her focused to other projects as well — including making her famous fried chicken on Wednesday nights at Freddy's Lobster + Clams, per the Washingtonian.
