Thai Food As An Economic Indicator

thai-orchids-kitchen.jpgThe City Paper checks out the dining scene in Ward 7, which is not very big, but does have a Thai restaurant! Urban planner Richard Layman tells the paper that, "Thai eateries are generally among the 'second wave' of retailers to set up shop in an up-and-coming part of town." So Thai Orchid's Kitchen, whose specialty is essentially drunken noodle made with spaghetti for better twirling action, just may be symbolic of "a neighborhood on the verge of sweeping revitalization."
