Wharf Farmers Market Launches Tomorrow At SW Waterfront

New, 2 comments

Amend your Thursday night drinking plans. Starting tomorrow night, the Southwest Waterfront is getting a farmers market to beat all farmers markets — meaning there'll be some booze by your beets. Plus pies from Buzz Bakery and terrines from Red Apron Butchery. The Neighborhood Restaurant Group — whose members also include Vermilion, Tallula, ChurchKey and more — is teaming up with the Hoffman-Madison Waterfront development team on the Wharf Farmers Market, set to debut tomorrow at the 7th Street Landing park.

NRG affiliates will provide most of the goods at the new market, from the mobile market that will bring produce in from local farms to Buzz and Red Apron's weekly participation — and the latter is even planning to set up a hot dog cart named Frank. But let's get back to the booze. Greg Engert — you know, the guy who designed the extensive beer list at ChurchKey — will have a selection of beer and wine on hand at the market each week. And yes, you can drink while shopping.

Some other vendors will be rotating through, and there will, of course, be live music on hand. The market will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays from tomorrow through September. That revitalizing neighborhood is also planning a lot of other weekend actions for the summer, including food truck parties and King Ribs Bar-B-Q available on Friday evenings and weekends.
