Get Bacon To-Go From 3; Truckeroo Debuts Tomorrow

CLARENDON—Restaurant 3 already cures and cuts its own bacon for dishes like its bacon-studded waffles with maple bacon ice cream. The next natural move is to sell it. Starting June 8, you'll be able to pick up slabs of 3's in-house hickory-smoked bacon at the restaurant for $12/lb. The meat, which chef Brian Robinson cures for five to seven days, is all heritage hog from Virginia farms like Polyface and Babes in the Wood. EVENT PLANNING—It's a veritable food truck extravaganza tomorrow at the first Truckeroo gathering near Nationals Park. About 17 trucks — including the Red Hook Lobster Pound, TaKorean, Sauca and Pleasant Pops — will be parked across from the Navy Yard Metro station from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow for the first in a series of monthly festivals. EVENT PLANNING—Bibiana chef Nick Stefanelli will be preparing a four-course meal from author Domenica Marchetti's new cookbook, The Glorious Pasta of Italy, on Tuesday, June 7. The dinner begins at the downtown restaurant with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and will showcase various pasta dishes from the book like curried pasta with mussels and shrimp and a dessert walnut-and-almond-stuffed pasta.
