CRIMEWATCH—Someone in a black ski mask threw bricks through the windows of both Room 11 and Meridian Pint last night, according to Prince of Petworth, who also has a photo of one of the bricks. No one was hurt, thankfully. Still, not cool. [PoP]
SILVER SPRING—This weekend marks the final days of the annual Silverdocs film festival held at the AFI Silver Theater. One of the films on tomorrow's schedule is El Bulli: Cooking in Progress, a behind-the-scenes look at Ferran Adria's soon-to-shutter Spanish restaurant. Tickets for the film are $11 and the screening is at noon, if you're so inclined. [EaterWire]
EVENT PLANNING—Oh, summer. Now that we've officially passed the solstice, it's time for the annual Safeway Barbecue Battle on Pennsylvania Ave. About 50 local and national pitmasters compete for the best in 'cue, but you only need to eat it and maybe listen to Chuck Brown or Cowboy Mouth. Tickets are $11 at the gate, which opens at 11 a.m. both days this weekend. Bring your barbecue cologne. [EaterWire]
