On July 1, exactly one week from today, a new option for rooftop drinking and dining is opening up in the U Street Corridor — in fact, right smack on the corner of 14th and U streets. Lost Society bills itself as a "boutique steakhouse" with a menu full of meats designed by former Smith & Wollensky chef Joseph Evans, who told Eater back in April that this new project has given him the opportunity to get a little more creative with a menu than your traditional steakhouse. A media preview revealed, of course, your T-bone and bone-in rib-eye, plus seafood options like a stuffed lobster in a blue crab cream and apps like oysters, pork belly and mac 'n cheese. The design team was aiming for "Victorian underground" when it comes to the second-floor dining room that is all velvet couches, curtained-off booths and expansive windows looking over a busy intersection — much like the restaurant's roofdeck upstairs. Lost Society opens for dinner service at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 1, and is already accepting reservations at 202-618-8868.
