The State Dinner with German Chancellor Angela Merkel is tonight, but last night President Obama took Merkel out on the town for a taste of Washington's culinary scene. Obama Foodorama says that the two heads of state dined at 1789 in Georgetown last night as sort of a tete-a-tete before tonight's expectedly lavish affair. Apparently Chinese President Hu Jintao also got a pre-State Dinner dinner when he visited Washington, but his was hosted at the White House. [ObFo]
