LINCOLN HEIGHTS—Mr. Peanut joined forces with Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton and Mayor Vincent Gray today in planting a peanut-shaped park in Lincoln Heights. "Planters Grove" is the second of three urban parks that the peanut company has got in the works as they cruise around in their biodiesel Nutmobile. They're planting about 100 new trees in the park and a rainwater garden. [EaterWire]
GEORGETOWN—Score a win for the animal rights activists: Thunderburger is definitely not going to be serving lion anytime ever. Dining Bisnow reported last week that chef Ryan Fichter was hoping to offer the meat if he could get permission, but a statement on the restaurant's website now makes it clear that a lion burger is never going to happen: "African Lions are tragically small in population and it is humanity's responsibility to help keep this majestic animal with us. No endangered or at-risk species will EVER be served at our restaurant, nor any responsible restaurant." [DBN, EaterWire]
FOOD TRUCKS—There is now a pho food truck out there, named Phonomenon. Find them on Twitter here. Now if only it was not 100 degrees out there. [PoP]
