1) Cleveland Park: Following its soft opening over the weekend, Le Zinc officially opened to the public last night blocks away from the National Cathedral. The French bistro — from Brasserie Beck alums David Ashwell and John Warner — offers a lot of the menu items you would expect from a French bistro: snails, French onion soup, steak frites, mussels, plus desserts like a pistachio creme brulee. A peek at Le Zinc's Facebook page reveals red banquettes, soft yellow walls, dark wood tables and a collection of framed photographs on the walls. The restaurant is open only for dinner at first, closed on Mondays. Status: Certified open. 3714 Macomb St NW; website
2) Bethesda: Bethesda Magazine reports that a "designer hot dog eatery" named Bold Bites has opened on Fairmont Avenue. The beef, pork and chorizo franks can be customized with condiments like truffle whip, butter-braised cabbage, arugula pesto and whipped bleu cheese. Status: Certified open. 4901-B Fairmont Ave; Facebook
