LOGAN CIRCLE—Birch & Barley and Firefly are teaming up next week for a $150-a-head dinner to benefit the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure. On July 25, Birch & Barley chefs Kyle Bailey and Tiffany MacIsaac will trade off courses with Firefly's Daniel Bortnick in preparing the five-course menu. But the twist is that this is a competition, too: Master sommelier Emily Wines of Firefly's restaurant group will pick wine pairings for each course to battle beer choices from Greg Engert, beer director of Birch & Barley's restaurant group. Guests will decide the victor. More information and tickets available here. [EaterWire]
U STREET—Tomorrow night, Bar Pilar is bringing back its summer Tuesday night blue crab feasts. For $60, you'll get a heap of steamed crabs plus two sides like corn, slaw or shrimp with mussels — good for sharing between two people. They're not taking reservations, but larger groups can call ahead at 202-265-1751.
MENUWATCH—If you like paella, this is your week. Chef José Andrés and his team are bringing back their annual Paella Festival at Jaleo starting today. The Penn Quarter, Crystal City and Bethesda Jaleo locations will all have rotating paella specials throughout the week based on guest chef Rafael Vidal's recipes. [EaterWire]
