Wicked Waffle Could Be Opening Soon; More On The Way

FARRAGUT SQUARE—A tipster notes that the Wicked Waffle on I Street seems to be opening "very soon." And, indeed, photographic evidence on the fast-casual waffle joint's Facebook page seem to indicate that the space is close to completion, and its website already offers a full breakfast and lunch menu of sweet and savory waffles as well as soup, salad and more. CAPITOL HILL—PoP spots a liquor license application in Eastern Market's old Petite Gourmet location for Boxcar Bistro, which The Hill is Home wrote about a few months ago under its working name BoxCar Grill. The "classic American bistro" next to Tunnicliff's will be operated by the same folks behind Senart's, Molly Malone's and more. They're also planning a fair amount of refurbishment to the building. CLARENDONAccording to ARLnow, a new gastropub called the Green Pig Bistro is coming to Clarendon and chats a bit with the owner who says he plans to put most of his money "in ingredients and staff, and not put it into things like marketing, glassware and advertising." [PRE-PLYWOOD]

CLARENDON—ARLnow also notes — with nice pictures to accompany — that the construction is moving along on the American Tap Room outpost in Clarendon. Signage is up and they're apparently hiring, while employees say they're hoping to open in late August or early September. [PLYWOOD]

METRO CENTER—A PoP reader sees signs for yet another new Le Pain Quotidien location, this time downtown at 10th and F streets. [PLYWOOD]

SILVER SPRING—Silver Spring Singular says that a Japanese restaurant named Ichiban is moving into the old Fillmore Silver Spring preview center, previously the old Ceviche. [PRE-PLYWOOD]
