Le Zinc Opening July 12; A Bastille Day Baguette Relay Race

CLEVELAND PARK—If you dig French bistros, Metrocurean has some good news today, announcing a July 12 opening for Le Zinc on Macomb Street. By the by, the concept comes from two Brasserie Beck alums, former executive chef David Ashwell and former manager John Warner. [Metrocurean]

PENN QUARTERPaul Bakery is taking over the old tradition of Bastille Day-related races on Pennsylvania Avenue. It's not Les Halles bartenders racing with champagne, but they're inviting anyone and everyone to come out for a relay race around the US Navy Memorial plaza using a baguette as the baton hand-off. More info on registering for the race here. [EaterWire]
