Washingtonian triple-teamed (that's Todd Kliman, Ann Limpert and Kate Nerenberg) its mini-reviews for the magazine this month, taking a peek at Proof (D.C.), Sidebar (M.D.) and Fire Works Pizza (V.A.).
Proof, named by Washington City Paper as Best Restaurant this year, earned similarly high marks from Washingtonian, calling its bites a "knockout meal." The team was almost equally impressed with the "no-frills" Sidebar, but it couldn't fully embrace Fire Works Pizza: "starters were erratic" but the "creamy spinach dip and spicy-sweet wings were the stuff bar-food dreams are made of."
