WATERFRONT—In celebration of executive pastry chef Matthew Petersen's upcoming stint on Top Chef Just Desserts (which, yes, Eater National will be recapping), both restaurants at the Mandarin Oriental will be offering new specials. Today, CityZen is launching a $25 three-course dessert tasting menu that will be changing weekly. And then on Wednesday, with the premiere of the show, Sou'Wester will be giving out free orders of Petersen's banana split fritters every Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. [EaterWire]
CHARITYWIRE—If you're really jonesing for some lemonade on Saturday, consider ordering some at one of the Daily Grill's local outposts. The restaurant says it will be donating 100 percent of its lemonade sales that day to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a childhood cancer non-profit. [EaterWire]
NOMA—Free ice cream, guys! This Saturday at 1 p.m. there's going to be an event at Union Market called DC Scoop that involves free ice cream, ice cream eating contests and a competition for best ice cream. Vendors on hand include Dolcezza Gelato, Dolci Gelato, Coppi's Organic restaurant and Seasonal Pantry. [EaterWire]
