CLEVELAND PARK—On Wednesday night, Ripple is hosting a party in honor of Spain's La Tomatina, which is basically an excuse for Spaniards to throw tomatoes at one another in the middle of the street. In addition to a special five-course menu, performance artists will be staging a tomato fight and the restaurant will be screening Attack of the Killer Tomatoes throughout the evening. The dinner is $65 per person (with an optional additional beverage pairing) for seatings throughout the dinner shift. For reservations, call 202-244-7995. [EaterWire]
FREEBIES—Most places have ended their Hurricane Irene deals by now, but those burger fiends over at Burger Days bring word of a deal that lasts through tomorrow. Unfortunately, it is also pretty limited in scope. Z-Burger is offering $20 worth of free food to anyone out there with "Irene" in their name. Deal lasts through Tuesday. [BD]
CAPITOL HILL—Cloture Club hears that tomorrow the Capitol Lounge will be celebrating (or something?) the six-year anniversary of that time it caught on fire. They'll be hosting a wing-eating contest of presumably ridiculously hot wings and there will be 25-cent wings all day. [CC via WCP]
