Wagamama Resurfaces In Penn Quarter; Wicked Waffle Opens

PENN QUARTER—London-based noodle chain Wagamama swears that they're really still opening in Penn Quarter "in early 2012" and will announce an exact date soon. It is worth noting, though, that the project has been in the works for years. Fool us once, Wagamama... [Internationalist via @TopShelfWBJ]

FARRAGUT SQUARE—Our tipster who reported last week that Wicked Waffle looked to be opening very soon was right on the money. The downtown restaurant opened its doors on Monday to the waffle-consuming public. [Facebook]

ADAMS MORGAN—The City Paper hears that Duplex Diner is soft-reopening tonight after being closed for several weeks due to renovations. And apparently they have added a "Southern twist" to the menu. [WCP]

AWARDS SEASON—The Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair is still a couple months away, but you can get your applications in now for the fair's first-ever Crafty Food Awards. The City Paper announced today that this year they'll be hosting a competition for those who make their own food and beverage products.
