Holy wow, the Hill Rag reports today that Hawk 'n' Dove has been sold to restaurateur Xavier Cervera, effectively ending 44 years of the iconic dive as we know it. The Capitol Hill establishment will keep its name and "a good deal of the memorabilia," but Cervera is planning on a wide-scale renovation to include adding mahogany paneling to the walls, opening up fireplaces and knocking down some walls to open the place up. He also envisions "a locally-sourced, seasonal bistro menu prepared in an open kitchen." If the name sounds familiar, that's because Cervera is also the guy behind Senart's, the Chesapeake Room, Molly Malone's and other establishments on the Hill. The plan is for the Hawk to close in October and then reopen in the spring after about six months of renovations.
