Chipotle announced back in April that it'll be opening the first location of its new Asian concept, ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, right here in DC. It's supposed to open this summer, according to the initial press release, so what's happening now that it is September 1? Well, they are hiring: line cooks, prep cooks and servers. A sign posted on the window lists a few things that they do want in an employee, including the desire to be "part of a force for change in food culture." And there are also things they don't want in an employee: people with rice allergies, people who like to sit down at work and people who work for industrialized confinement hog farms. Okay. So hiring is a good sign that this is happening soon and, indeed, when Eater reached out to a Chipotle rep last week for details on the progress, the reply was "Soon. Stay tuned." So stay tuned.
