Tom Sietsema says Sax feels like the Playboy mansion in his First Bite column this week, but with surprisingly good food. While the entire restaurant is wrapped in red velvet and gold leaf, he notes that the menu manages to be "more refined than you might expect given everything that surrounds it" with items like scallop carpaccio and a "deeply flavored" braised lamb. As this was a First Bite column there's no star rating but (spoiler alert!) Sietsema tweeted this afternoon that it "tastes like two or more stars." [WaPo]
