On Friday, Blue Duck Tavern announced that John Melfi has joined the Park Hyatt restaurant as chef de cuisine. Melfi previously worked as executive sous chef at Vidalia and, before that, he worked at restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina, and Naples, Florida.
But, wait, didn't Blue Duck just get a new chef de cuisine? Back in March, the executive chef Brian McBride introduced Eric Fleischer in the position. A rep for the restaurant confirms that Fleischer "left the restaurant back in May" — so about two months after he started the gig — but did not give any reason for the very quiet split. No word on where Fleischer is now, but stay tuned for any updates.
